According to a post on X on Monday, November 2, Manchester United's former coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjær, said he still has something unresolved at the Premier League club.
When asked about returning to Manchester United, he admitted he would love to do so as a manager one day.
"It would have been nice to have the opportunity again," he said.
Despite that and the club's disappointing match results so far this season, he expressed his support for the current Manchester United coach: "Michael has what it takes to take the club forward. I think he is the right man. Carrick understands the club, as well as the fans. He knows what's needed."
During his spell at Manchester United, Ole had several chances to win some trophies, and he was rather unfortunate:
Throughout the season, 2019/20, he coached Manchester United and merely reached the semi-final of the EFL Cup. Manchester United also reached the semi-final of the FA Cup that season, and they lost. And there was the Europa League—they reached the same stage in the competition as they did in the FA Cup, and also failed to move further.
The 2020/21 season came, then he lost the semi-final of the EFL Cup, and also the Europa League final. Additionally, the club finished third and second in the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons, respectively.
Regardless of all of this, he was sacked after the end of the 2020/21 season.
