Real Madrid consider bringing back Jacobo Ramon as Rudiger replacement

According to a report by Madrid Universal on Monday, November 2, 2026, Real Madrid are still weighing up whether to re-sign former academy defender Jacobo Ramon ahead of the 2027-28 campaign.

The 21-year-old has made significant progress since leaving the Santiago Bernabeu to join Como in 2025, with his performances reportedly prompting his former club to consider bringing him back to Spain.

According to AS journalist Jose Felix Diaz, Real Madrid are exploring the possibility of activating the buyback clause included in Ramon’s transfer agreement. However, the club’s hierarchy has yet to settle on a final decision.

Although reports last week claimed that Los Blancos had already resolved to re-sign the defender next summer, the latest update suggests that the matter remains under consideration. A definitive decision is not expected until around March or April 2027.

Real Madrid’s interest is partly linked to the uncertainty surrounding Antonio Rudiger’s future. The German defender’s contract expires at the end of the current season, and an extension is reportedly not expected.

With Rudiger potentially heading for the exit, Madrid are assessing possible replacements and view Ramon as one of the options available to strengthen their defence.

The Spanish defender could also offer a cost-effective solution, as his buyback clause is reportedly valued at less than €9 million. This would enable Madrid to recover a player familiar with the club’s football philosophy without committing a substantial transfer fee.

Ramon has continued to impress since moving to Italy, playing an important part in Como’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League last season. He has also maintained his strong performances during the ongoing campaign.

The youngster has featured 13 times across all competitions in the 2026-27 season, recording three goals and one assist.

His development has drawn parallels with Nico Paz, another former Real Madrid prospect who moved to Como before returning to the Spanish giants and subsequently rejoining the Italian club last summer.

However, triggering Ramon’s buyback clause would not necessarily guarantee him an immediate place in Madrid’s first-team plans. The club could evaluate his progress and decide whether to retain him in the squad or explore another arrangement.

For now, Ramon remains focused on his performances at Como, while Real Madrid continue to follow his development closely.

His long-term future is expected to become clearer in the coming months as Madrid prepare for potential changes in their defensive department, particularly if Rudiger departs when his contract expires.
