According to a report by Football Transfer on Monday November 2, 2026, Jose Mourinho has dismissed suggestions that Vinicius Junior could leave Real Madrid next year, declaring his affection for the Brazilian forward despite Arsenal’s reported interest in signing him during 2027.
The 26-year-old winger attracted considerable attention from Arsenal during the summer transfer window. The Premier League club reportedly remain interested as Mikel Arteta continues searching for another world-class left winger to strengthen his attacking options.
Arsenal signed Christos Tzolis in July but apparently want further attacking reinforcements. Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz is another reported target, with Vinicius considered among their leading options for the upcoming transfer window.
Mourinho’s latest comments suggest Real Madrid have no immediate intention of allowing their Brazilian superstar to leave. Vinicius recently missed matches through suspension, giving summer arrival Yan Diomande opportunities on the left wing.
“I can’t wait for Vini Jr to be back from the sanction because I love him, I need him,” Mourinho told reporters before Real Madrid defeated Racing Santander three-nil on Sunday.
Diomande strengthened his growing reputation by scoring his fourth goal in six appearances during that victory. His impressive performances have fuelled speculation that Real Madrid could consider selling Vinicius next year.
However, Mourinho’s public support indicates that Vinicius remains important to his plans. Despite inconsistent performances this season and Arsenal’s reported interest, the manager appears determined to retain the Brazilian international at the Spanish club.
Vinicius previously rejected Arsenal’s advances and instead signed a lucrative contract with Real Madrid. Given that decision happened only months ago, changing his mind about moving to the Emirates Stadium appears uncertain.
Nevertheless, Diomande’s excellent form could threaten Vinicius’s guaranteed starting position. If the Brazilian struggles to regain favour after suspension, Real Madrid might reconsider his future, potentially opening the door for Arsenal to pursue him.
Any agreement would reportedly require Arsenal to surpass the Premier League transfer record. Vinicius could cost more than the €145 million paid for Alexander Isak and Enzo Fernandez, making the deal exceptionally expensive.
