According to a report by The Daily Post on Saturday, October 17, 2026, Everton will welcome Chelsea to Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday afternoon for a Premier League encounter that could have a significant impact on both teams’ early-season campaign.
David Moyes’ men head into the match unbeaten after six league games, recording two victories and four draws. They currently occupy fifth position with 10 points, level with Chelsea, who sit sixth after three wins, one draw and two defeats.
Chelsea will arrive on Merseyside with renewed confidence following their impressive 5-1 victory over Bournemouth last weekend. Everton, meanwhile, were held to a 2-2 draw by Hull City in their previous outing.
Despite Chelsea’s recent attacking performance, Everton will draw encouragement from their strong home record against the London club.
The Toffees have won six of their last nine league meetings at Goodison Park and secured a convincing 3-0 victory in the corresponding fixture last March.
However, Moyes could face selection concerns ahead of Saturday’s encounter. Defender Jarrad Branthwaite is doubtful after suffering a dead leg, while Vitalii Mykolenko could return to the squad.
Chelsea will be without captain Reece James, who is expected to miss around three months following knee surgery.
The encounter also brings an interesting managerial storyline, with Moyes facing Xabi Alonso once again.
The two managers previously met in the Europa League quarter-finals when Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen faced Moyes’ West Ham United two years ago.
Leverkusen won that European tie 3-1 on aggregate to advance to the semi-finals, giving Alonso the historical advantage ahead of their latest meeting.
Nevertheless, Everton will hope home advantage and their unbeaten league record can help them secure a statement victory.
