According to a report by Metro on Friday, October 23, 2026, Erling Haaland has been declared fit for Manchester City's Premier League meeting with Aston Villa after suffering a knock in their recent victory over Ipswich Town.
The Norwegian forward is expected to feature when Manchester City travel to face Aston Villa on Saturday. His availability will be a major boost for the reigning Premier League contenders as they prepare for another important fixture in their campaign.
Haaland scored twice during City's 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town last weekend. However, he was not involved in Tuesday's Champions League encounter against AEK Athens, where City recorded an emphatic 5-1 win. The striker remained an unused substitute as the coaching staff opted against risking his fitness.
Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca reportedly took the precautionary decision to rest Haaland after the knock he sustained in the previous match. With his team performing comfortably against their Greek opponents, there was little need to introduce the forward and potentially aggravate the problem.
While Haaland has been cleared to play, uncertainty remains over the fitness of three other Manchester City players ahead of the trip to Villa Park. Nico O'Reilly, Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes are all facing late fitness assessments as the club evaluates their availability.
Providing an update on the situation, Maresca said: "They could all be available or not. There are still doubts."
The City manager also confirmed that Haaland's situation was more straightforward than those of his teammates, adding: "Erling is the only one who is 100 per cent available and for the other three we need to wait."
Haaland's return could prove decisive as Manchester City seek to maintain their position at the summit of the Premier League standings. His goalscoring ability and physical presence remain important elements of the team's attacking approach.
Meanwhile, Phil Foden has continued to attract attention after delivering impressive performances since returning from a domestic suspension. The England international produced a hat-trick in the Champions League victory over AEK Athens, taking his tally to four goals across his last two appearances.
Foden's recent performances have strengthened his case for a prominent role in City's upcoming fixtures. Maresca has expressed admiration for the midfielder's technical quality and revealed that they have held several conversations since he took charge at the Etihad Stadium during the summer.
With Haaland available and Foden enjoying a productive spell, Manchester City will hope to carry their attacking momentum into Saturday's challenging encounter against Aston Villa.
