BBC Sport reported on Sunday, October 18, 2026, that Arsenal defeated Nottingham Forest 1-0 in a closely contested Premier League encounter, with Noni Madueke scoring in the closing stages to earn the Gunners all three points following a scoreless first half.
Arsenal enjoyed the majority of possession before the break but found it difficult to make their dominance count on the scoreboard. Bukayo Saka created promising opportunities, while Kai Havertz missed a good chance after sending his shot narrowly wide from inside the box.
Nottingham Forest also threatened, particularly on the counterattack and from set pieces. Liam Delap provided the pass for Dan Ndoye, who fired wide, while David Raya remained focused to keep Arsenal in the contest. Xaver Schlager also forced the goalkeeper into action shortly before halftime.
The visitors became more aggressive after the restart and created several worrying moments for Arsenal’s defence. Raya made an outstanding save to deny Murillo’s header from a corner, and Delap had another attempt blocked inside the penalty area.
Seeking a breakthrough, Mikel Arteta made several substitutions, bringing on Noni Madueke, Viktor Gyokeres, Jurrien Timber and Mikel Merino to add more attacking quality. Rice almost put Arsenal ahead before Madueke delivered the decisive moment.
Arsenal finally took the lead in the 80th minute when Rice picked out Madueke. The winger struck from the edge of the box, and his effort deflected past goalkeeper Matz Sels to give the home side a crucial advantage.
Nottingham Forest launched a late push for an equaliser in stoppage time but could not find a way through. Chris Wood’s attempt was cleared off the goal line, Murillo narrowly missed the target, and Delap was stopped by another important block. Arsenal successfully protected their lead to secure the victory.
