Man United: Summer Move Going So Badly A Fine May Have to Be Paid

According to reports by TEAMtalk on Thursday November 5, 2026, Manchester United could receive an unexpected payment from Celta Vigo following the disappointing progress of Altay Bayindir's loan move to the Spanish club.

The Turkish goalkeeper joined Celta Vigo on loan from Manchester United during the summer transfer window after falling down the pecking order at Old Trafford. However, his lack of playing time has raised questions about the financial conditions attached to the agreement.

United reportedly negotiated an option for Celta Vigo to sign Bayindir permanently for €4 million. The deal also includes a substantial sell-on clause that could benefit the Premier League club if the goalkeeper is eventually transferred elsewhere.

As part of the agreement, Manchester United are also entitled to a loan fee, although the amount they receive depends on how many appearances Bayindir makes for the Spanish side.

So far, the 27-year-old has failed to make a single appearance for Celta Vigo. He has not featured in the league, Europa League or Copa del Rey, with Ionut Radu remaining the club's first-choice goalkeeper.

Radu's consistent performances have made it difficult for Bayindir to break into the starting team. The situation has reportedly placed the Turkish international's chances of securing regular football at the club in serious doubt.

According to a report from Spain, cited by Sport Witness, Celta Vigo could be required to pay Manchester United a financial penalty if Bayindir fails to reach a specific number of appearances during his loan spell.

The report suggested that the goalkeeper is unlikely to overtake Radu in the club's goalkeeping hierarchy unless the current first choice becomes unavailable.

It stated: "With Radu's good performances, Bayındır is unlikely to get ahead in the league and the Europa League, unless the former were to suffer a setback."

The report further suggested that Celta Vigo could eventually have to pay the penalty to Manchester United if the current situation continues.

However, the possible payment would not necessarily represent a major financial victory for United. The club's expected loan income could be lower than initially anticipated because the fee is linked to Bayindir's appearances.
