According to a report by BBC Sport on Sunday, November 1, 2026, Arsenal claimed an important 1-0 victory over Liverpool, with Kai Havertz scoring the only goal of the match. Mikel Arteta's team showed great defensive organisation and determination to hold on to their narrow lead and secure all three points.
The decisive moment came in the 16th minute when Declan Rice delivered an excellent pass into the penalty area, allowing Havertz to finish from close range and put Arsenal ahead.
Liverpool responded by putting the visitors under pressure and creating several opportunities through Alexander Isak, Cody Gakpo and Florian Wirtz. However, Arsenal's defence remained organised, making important blocks and preventing the hosts from finding an equaliser.
Goalkeeper David Raya also played a significant role in Arsenal's victory, showing excellent awareness through his handling of crosses and timely interventions. His performance made it difficult for Liverpool's attackers to find a way past him.
Liverpool came close to equalising in the 39th minute when Wirtz struck a free kick against the crossbar. Alexis Mac Allister also missed a headed opportunity, leaving the hosts frustrated as they went into the break trailing.
Arsenal also created attacking opportunities through Bruno Guimaraes and Declan Rice, but neither player managed to extend the visitors' advantage. Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson made a comfortable save to deny Rice.
Following the restart, Liverpool enjoyed more possession but struggled to turn their dominance into clear scoring opportunities. Arsenal continued to defend effectively, while Noni Madueke and Christos Tzolis looked to trouble the home side with their attacking runs.
Tzolis forced Alisson into an excellent reflex save in the 73rd minute as Arsenal searched for a second goal. Liverpool also introduced fresh attacking players, including Rio Ngumoha, in an attempt to increase their pressure and rescue a result.
Despite their late efforts, Liverpool were unable to find a breakthrough, with Arsenal blocking attempts from Ngumoha and Ronald Araujo. The visitors remained focused throughout stoppage time to protect their advantage.
The final whistle confirmed a hard-earned victory for Arsenal at Anfield. Havertz's first-half goal proved enough to secure the win, while the team's defensive discipline and Raya's important interventions ensured they returned home with all three points.
