According to a report by Barca Universal on Thursday October 29, 2026, Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal has received nominations for two prestigious La Liga awards following another impressive month, despite his club experiencing disappointing results in important fixtures.
The Catalan giants suffered defeats against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and Real Madrid in La Liga. However, Yamal continued demonstrating his exceptional quality with several influential performances throughout October.
The 19-year-old attacker played an important role in Barcelona’s convincing 3-0 victory over Getafe, providing an assist to help his team secure all three points.
He subsequently delivered another outstanding performance against Real Betis, scoring once and supplying an assist as Barcelona recorded an impressive 5-2 victory over Manuel Pellegrini’s team.
His consistent contributions have earned him a place among the nominees for La Liga’s Player of the Month award for October, recognising his performances despite Barcelona’s recent setbacks.
Yamal faces competition from Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe, Elche goalkeeper Matias Dituro, Alejandro Grimaldo and Real Sociedad attacker Goncalo Guedes for the individual accolade.
Although the Barcelona youngster struggled to influence proceedings during the recent El Clasico, where his team suffered a 2-1 defeat against Real Madrid, his performances across the month have remained impressive.
His ability to create opportunities, score important goals and trouble opposing defenders has continued highlighting his importance to Hansi Flick’s attacking setup.
Beyond his Player of the Month nomination, Yamal has also received recognition for his spectacular strike against Real Betis, which has been shortlisted for La Liga’s Goal of the Month award.
The teenager produced a remarkable finish after cutting inside from the right flank, using excellent footwork to evade an opponent before curling the ball beyond the goalkeeper.
The goal demonstrated his technical ability, composure and confidence in dangerous attacking positions, further strengthening his reputation as one of football’s most exciting young talents.
Yamal will again compete against Mbappe for the Goal of the Month prize, while Alaves forward Hugo Novoa is also among the shortlisted candidates.
These nominations represent another significant achievement for the Barcelona academy graduate, whose influence continues growing despite his team experiencing mixed results during the current campaign.
Winning either award would provide further recognition of Yamal’s outstanding individual performances and underline his importance to Barcelona as they seek to recover from their recent disappointments.
