David Boly explains how staying calm helped him score on his Champions League debut

According to a report by GOAL on Wednesday November 4, 2026, Paris Saint-Germain youngster David Boly has revealed how keeping his composure helped him score on his Champions League debut during the club's emphatic 6-0 victory over Villarreal on Tuesday night.

The 17-year-old came off the bench in the second half and capped an outstanding performance by the reigning European champions with a late goal at the Estadio de la Ceramica.

Boly explained that he deliberately avoided putting himself under pressure when manager Luis Enrique instructed him to warm up, choosing instead to approach the occasion like a regular match with the youth team.

Speaking to PSG TV after the game, the teenager said he was determined to remain calm and play his natural game.

"As soon as Luis Enrique told me to get warmed up, I got into the zone. Then he told me I was coming on, and I told him I'd do what I always do, just like I do with the youth team: not get stressed, just play my football. And it paid off," Boly said.

The youngster received a pass from Joao Neves, drove forward before taking an angled shot that deflected off a Villarreal defender and found the back of the net.

Boly described the experience of scoring on his first Champions League appearance as incredible, admitting that it was a special moment after years of hard work.

"All of this is the result of my hard work over so many years, ever since I was a little boy. I've always kept working, harder and harder, and I think it has paid off," he added.

The PSG prospect also acknowledged that he still has plenty of room for improvement and must continue working hard despite making an impressive start to his senior European career.

He thanked Enrique and the club's coaching staff for trusting him and supporting his development since he joined the first team last year.

Boly's goal completed a dominant night for PSG, who had already established a commanding advantage through Joao Neves, Desire Doue, Senny Mayulu and Fabian Ruiz.

Ruiz scored his second goal early in the second half before Boly added the sixth to seal a memorable victory for the French champions.

The result moved PSG to 12 points at the top of the Champions League league-phase standings, extending their winning run in all competitions to 10 matches.
