Barcelona Rule Out January Move for PSG Defender Willian Pacho – Report

According to a report by Barca Universal on Monday November 2, 2026, Barcelona have ruled out the possibility of signing Paris Saint-Germain defender Willian Pacho, despite recent speculation linking the Ecuadorian international with a move to Camp Nou.

According to transfer journalist Matteo Moretto, the 25-year-old is not an option for the Catalan club because PSG have no intention of allowing him to leave.

Barcelona are currently exploring the transfer market ahead of the January window as they look to strengthen their defensive options. The Blaugrana are particularly interested in recruiting a left-footed centre-back who can immediately improve their backline.

Several high-profile defenders have emerged on their shortlist. Manchester City's Josko Gvardiol, Manchester United's Lisandro Martinez and Inter Milan's Alessandro Bastoni are among the players being considered by the club's hierarchy.

However, Pacho's situation makes a potential transfer extremely difficult. PSG consider the defender an important part of their project and have no plans to entertain offers for his services.

Manager Luis Enrique is also a huge admirer of the centre-back and is unwilling to lose him. The defender is equally comfortable in Paris and remains focused on winning more trophies with the French champions.

Pacho recently committed his future to PSG by signing a new long-term contract that keeps him at the club until 2031. This further reduces Barcelona's chances of securing his signature.

Meanwhile, Barcelona have other realistic options to consider as they continue their search for defensive reinforcements. Martinez is reportedly viewed as the most attainable target because his Manchester United contract expires next summer.

This situation could allow the Spanish champions to negotiate a reasonable transfer fee during the January window rather than risk losing him for nothing later.

Bastoni also remains highly rated by Barcelona, while the Italian defender is reportedly open to joining the Catalan side. However, Inter Milan are expected to demand around €70 million, potentially making negotiations difficult for the financially cautious club.
