According to a report by GOAL on Monday November 2, 2026, Anthony Gordon has admitted that he feels less pressure playing for Barcelona than he experienced during his time fighting relegation in the Premier League.
The England international has made an impressive start to life at the Spotify Camp Nou following his move from Newcastle United, registering three goals and five assists in his first 13 appearances for the Catalan giants.
Despite the enormous expectations that come with representing one of Europe's biggest clubs, Gordon believes competing for major trophies is more enjoyable and less stressful than battling to avoid relegation or struggling to secure European qualification.
The 25-year-old made the admission during a press conference ahead of Barcelona's Champions League meeting with Aston Villa, where he reflected on his experiences at Everton, Newcastle United and his current club.
Gordon explained that each club had contributed to his development as a player and person, but insisted that Barcelona offers him the opportunity to pursue his biggest ambitions.
"I really enjoyed all three because they come with different things to help you as a person, help you grow," he said.
"I think to be competing on every front for every trophy is definitely the most enjoyable. I think people think it's more pressure, but it's actually less pressure than fighting relegation and fighting to push up the table for the Champions League.
"I want to win every trophy. I want to be the best. This club allows me to do so."
The winger has quickly become a popular figure among Barcelona supporters following his arrival in Spain. His performances have earned him praise, with some fans even displaying a banner describing him as a Catalan.
However, Gordon believes there is still considerable room for improvement despite his encouraging beginning under manager Hansi Flick.
He revealed that he is still adapting to his new environment and developing a better understanding of his teammates and the team's playing style.
"I've started well, but like I've said numerous times, I can do a lot more," Gordon said.
MHe also praised the atmosphere within the Barcelona dressing room, describing the club as welcoming and pointing to the youthful nature of the squad as one of its positive qualities.
Gordon also acknowledged that he needs to become more decisive in front of goal if he wants to take his game to another level.
The former Newcastle winger admitted that he sometimes chooses to pass when he should attempt to score, and believes becoming more selfish in certain attacking situations could improve his contribution to the team.
"I think I can do it more, I can maybe be a little bit more selfish sometimes. I think sometimes I maybe pass too much. I should definitely score more goals," he explained.
He, however, stressed that his biggest priority remains helping Barcelona win trophies, rather than concentrating solely on his individual statistics.
With three goals and five assists already to his name, Gordon will hope to build on his promising start as Barcelona continue their pursuit of silverware on multiple fronts.
