According to a report from Barca Universal on Monday November 2, 2026 Barcelona are said to have sent out a scout to watch Portuguese prodigy Jordan Arnolin during his side’s 4-0 loss to FC Porto.
Spanish outlet SPORT report that a representative from the Catalan club was at Estadio do Dragao to watch the 18-year-old play his first ever start.
Although his team put in a poor display, Arnolin stood out for his versatility. The natural centre-back can also play as a full-back and defensive midfielder.
This versatility is said to remind Barcelona of their academy gem Xavi Espart, who can play in multiple defensive roles. During the game against Porto, Arnolin was used as a defensive midfielder and played for 62 minutes.
Despite the challenge, the young player put in some encouraging stats with 26 interventions, seven defensive actions, six clearances and three interceptions. He completed 13 of his 15 passes and won only one of his three one-on-one battles.
Although he did not have a standout game, it should be noted that it was his first ever start for the senior side. The defender is not the only one watching his progress with representatives from Brighton and Lille also attending the game.
This interest from three European clubs may bring more attention to the young defender as he starts to get more opportunities in the senior team.
However there is no indication that Barcelona, Brighton or Lille have made an offer for his services. The young player would be a long term investment for Barcelona.
His versatility could make him an appealing signing but his potential must be identified by sporting director Deco. Ultimately Barcelona are only interested in the player at the moment and will need to do more research before considering a move.
