According to a report by Football London on Monday, October 26, 2026, Chelsea have received a potential boost ahead of their Carabao Cup clash against Liverpool after striker Emmanuel Emegha showed signs of progress in his recovery from injury.
The Dutch forward shared pictures of himself training on his Instagram story, raising hopes that he could soon return to action.
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso will be hoping to have more attacking options available as his team prepares for Wednesday's trip to Anfield. The Blues are also dealing with other injury concerns following their 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Emegha joined Chelsea from Strasbourg in a reported £23 million deal but has yet to make his competitive debut for the club. His preparations were disrupted by a hamstring injury sustained during a behind-closed-doors friendly in July.
The injury forced him to miss Chelsea's pre-season tour of Australia and Asia. Although he featured in two friendly matches before the tour, he has struggled to regain full fitness and has not been available for selection regularly.
Alonso previously indicated that the striker needed more time to recover before returning to the team. However, his latest training pictures have provided encouragement as Chelsea assess their available players ahead of the Liverpool encounter.
The Chelsea manager has spoken positively about Emegha's qualities, particularly his height, pace and ability to attack spaces behind defenders. Those attributes could give the Blues another attacking option once he is fully fit.
Chelsea could benefit from his return because Joao Pedro also missed the Tottenham match after suffering a knee problem in training. His availability for the Liverpool game remains uncertain.
However, Emegha's return to training does not guarantee that he will feature against Liverpool. Alonso will need to assess his fitness before deciding whether to include him in the squad.
The Blues will hope the forward can complete his recovery and contribute to their campaign as they prepare for a demanding run of fixtures.
