According to a report by Evening Standard on Friday, November 6, 2026, Atletico Madrid are preparing for a crucial La Liga encounter against Barcelona as Diego Simeone's men look to secure all three points and strengthen their position in the title race.

The highly anticipated fixture is scheduled to take place on Sunday, November 8, at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium. Barcelona currently occupy first position with 30 points, while Atletico Madrid sit second with 28 points after 11 matches.

Atletico have recorded nine victories, one draw and one defeat in the league this season. They have also scored 22 goals and conceded just eight, demonstrating their defensive strength and ability to compete for the title.

However, defeating Barcelona will require an outstanding performance, particularly because the Catalan giants have scored 46 goals in their opening 11 league matches.

To stand a better chance of overcoming their opponents, Diego Simeone could consider deploying a 4-3-3 formation featuring Nigerian international Ademola Lookman in the attacking department.

The proposed Atletico Madrid starting lineup could see Jan Oblak retain his position in goal, with Marc Pubill, Robin Le Normand, Dávid Hancko and Alejandro Grimaldo forming the defensive line.
