Arsenal Told Surprise Summer Sale Has Already Been a 'Great Success' at New Club

Football Transfer reported on Sunday, October 18, 2026, that Barcelona’s decision to sign Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal has already been described as a successful piece of business following the striker’s impressive start to life at Camp Nou.

The Brazilian forward ended his four-year stay with Arsenal in September after joining Barcelona in a deal worth €10 million (£8.4 million). His transfer came despite receiving limited interest during the earlier stages of the summer window.

Barcelona had initially explored several high-profile attacking options as they searched for a significant reinforcement up front. However, after missing out on their preferred targets, the Spanish giants eventually secured Jesus’s signature.

Having lost his regular starting position at Arsenal, Jesus was regarded as a relatively low-cost alternative. Nevertheless, the 29-year-old has made an immediate impact in Spain, registering four goals in seven appearances for Barcelona this season.

Radio Marca journalist Fran Gonzalez has spoken positively about the transfer, describing the Brazilian’s arrival as a smart acquisition for Barcelona in comments reported by SPORT.

“I think Gabriel Jesus’s numbers are becoming quite serious - and I’m not joking,” Gonzalez said, expressing his admiration for the forward’s goalscoring contributions.

Gonzalez also drew comparisons between Jesus’s league record and the performances of Real Madrid’s leading attackers. He pointed out that the former Arsenal striker had scored more league goals than Vinicius Junior at that stage of the campaign.

“He has more league goals than Vinicius Junior. The only Real Madrid player who has scored more than him is Mbappe with seven,” the journalist stated.

He continued by describing the transfer as “a great success and a very good signing,” reflecting the growing confidence that Barcelona made the right choice in recruiting the Brazilian forward.

Jesus will have another opportunity to strengthen his reputation when Barcelona face Paris Saint-Germain in Tuesday’s Champions League encounter, where he will hope to maintain his impressive goalscoring form.

Barcelona have enjoyed an outstanding start to the season, winning all 11 of their matches in La Liga and European competition. Arsenal have also performed strongly, securing 10 victories in 11 games, including back-to-back Premier League successes against Leeds United and Nottingham Forest.
