According to a report by Barca Universal on Sunday October 18, 2026, Barcelona have discovered an unexpected benefit from Raphinha’s recent injury, with several players stepping up to share the goalscoring responsibility and demonstrating the depth of Hansi Flick’s attacking options.
According to Diario SPORT, five Barcelona players found the net during a three-match period in which Raphinha was either unavailable or absent from the starting line-up, highlighting the team’s ability to produce goals without relying on their captain.
Raphinha remains Barcelona’s leading goalscorer this season with 14 goals, but an injury sustained while on international duty with Brazil forced him to miss two matches. He returned against Real Betis on Saturday, playing around 20 minutes in Barcelona’s emphatic 5-2 victory.
During his absence, Anthony Gordon scored twice, while Dani Olmo, Jules Koundé, Rodri and Eric García also got on the scoresheet. Their contributions have underlined the importance of having multiple players capable of making a difference in the final third.
Barcelona have now recorded 13 different goalscorers across their opening 11 competitive matches, scoring an extraordinary 48 goals. Their attacking output is particularly impressive considering the summer departures of Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres and Marcus Rashford, who reportedly contributed 54 goals combined last season.
Speaking after the victory over Betis, Rodri emphasised the importance of collective responsibility within the team.
“We are all important. We don’t have a player who can score 50 or 60 goals, so everyone has to contribute to the goalscoring,” the midfielder said.
Lamine Yamal has also continued to deliver outstanding performances, registering nine goals and 10 assists this season. His creativity, combined with contributions from other members of the squad, has made Barcelona a difficult team to contain.
Although Raphinha’s importance remains unquestionable because of his goals, pressing and leadership, his absence has shown that Flick’s side can continue to perform at a high level without depending on one individual.
The development could prove particularly valuable as Barcelona prepare for crucial encounters against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid. With several attacking players contributing, opponents will have more threats to worry about than simply stopping Raphinha and Yamal.
