NFO 0-1 ARS: Arsenal Superstar Wins Man of The Match Award After His Superb Performance

BBC Sport reported on Sunday, October 18, 2026, that Declan Rice produced an impressive display as Arsenal claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Nottingham Forest, with the midfielder helping to create the winning goal.

Rice, who represents England internationally, supplied the pass that allowed Noni Madueke to score in the 80th minute, securing a valuable three points for Mikel Arteta's side.

The midfielder underlined his value to Arsenal through his quality distribution, forward runs and creativity in the final third. His most important moment came when he found Madueke with a perfectly timed pass close to the edge of the penalty area. The winger took his opportunity, sending a shot towards goal that deflected off a defender before ending up in the net.

Despite controlling much of the game, Arsenal found it difficult to break down Nottingham Forest's defence in the first half. The Gunners enjoyed around 76 per cent possession after 30 minutes but were unable to make their dominance count on the scoreboard. Forest's disciplined defensive performance kept the visitors at bay during the opening stages.

Rice remained central to Arsenal's efforts to find a winning goal. He almost put his name on the scoresheet in the 72nd minute after being set up by Jurrien Timber, but his attempt from inside the box narrowly cleared the crossbar. The opportunity illustrated his attacking qualities and willingness to make an impact in the opposition's penalty area.

He also contributed to Arsenal's offensive pressure by taking several corners. Although Nottingham Forest successfully cleared many of his deliveries, the set pieces offered the visitors additional chances to create danger in the hosts' penalty area.

Madueke's arrival at the start of the second half proved to be an important decision. His introduction strengthened Arsenal's attacking play, and his partnership with Rice eventually produced the goal that settled the contest.

However, the visitors were forced to defend their lead in the closing stages as Nottingham Forest increased their efforts to find an equaliser. Chris Wood nearly scored in the 89th minute, but a vital clearance on the goal line denied the hosts. Murillo also came close during stoppage time, only to send his attempt narrowly wide.

With a decisive assist, a near goal and an influential all-round performance, Rice played a major part in Arsenal's victory and made a compelling case for the Man of the Match honour.
