Manchester United are reportedly preparing to part ways with manager Michael Carrick following the club’s disappointing run of results, although an official announcement regarding his future has yet to be made.
According to a report by Football Transfers on Monday, October 26, 2026, Carrick is expected to be dismissed after United’s winless run extended to eight matches, increasing pressure on the manager and raising serious concerns about the team’s performances.
The latest setback came on Sunday when Manchester United suffered another disappointing defeat against Bournemouth at Old Trafford. Following the final whistle, Bournemouth supporters were heard chanting for Carrick to be sacked, adding to the growing uncertainty surrounding his position.
Despite expectations that the club would announce his departure on Monday morning, Manchester United had yet to release an official statement.
The delay has reportedly been linked to financial disclosure requirements associated with the club’s listing on the New York Stock Exchange. As a publicly traded company, United must comply with relevant American securities regulations when communicating significant developments that could influence investor decisions.
Managerial changes are considered important information for shareholders, meaning the club must ensure that the necessary disclosure procedures are followed before making a public announcement.
Consequently, Carrick’s situation remains unresolved while Manchester United works through the required processes. However, the possibility of his departure continues to dominate discussions surrounding the club.
The situation has also drawn comparisons with the dismissal of his predecessor, Ruben Amorim, who was relieved of his duties on January 5. United are reportedly following similar procedures as they handle the uncertainty surrounding Carrick’s position.
Nevertheless, the club must first complete its internal decision-making process and formally determine the manager’s future before announcing any dismissal.
The timing has further complicated matters because the New York Stock Exchange was closed over the weekend, meaning United had to consider the appropriate timing for communicating potentially significant information to investors.
As a foreign private issuer listed on the American stock exchange, Manchester United is subject to disclosure obligations concerning material developments that could affect the market value of its securities.
For now, Carrick remains in a position of uncertainty as United faces growing pressure to make a decision following another disappointing result.
