According to a report by Madrid Universal on Monday, October 19, 2026, Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has won the 2026 Onze d’Or award, finishing ahead of Paris Saint-Germain stars Joao Neves and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia following a strong campaign for club and country.
The French international secured the fan-voted honour after receiving 48.2 per cent of more than two million votes cast on the Onze Mondial website. Neves finished second with 11.9 per cent, while Kvaratskhelia collected 10.8 per cent to take third place.
Mbappe’s victory reflects his impressive performances throughout the season, during which he scored more than 40 goals for Real Madrid and delivered notable displays at the World Cup. The latest recognition adds another individual award to his growing collection and further strengthens his reputation as one of football’s leading attacking talents.
After receiving the trophy, the 26-year-old expressed his appreciation for the recognition, describing it as a reward for his dedication and an encouragement to continue improving.
“It’s a pleasure to be recognised. It’s a reward for the work put in all year long, and it gives me a lot of motivation to continue and do even better,” he said.
Mbappe also highlighted the importance of supporters in football, acknowledging the satisfaction players gain from entertaining fans and making them feel connected to the game. The award’s fan-based voting system made the achievement particularly meaningful for the Real Madrid forward.
The possibility of joining legendary players such as Zinedine Zidane, Cristiano Ronaldo and Diego Maradona among previous Onze d’Or winners was also discussed. Mbappe reportedly viewed the association with such celebrated figures as a significant honour, recognising their lasting influence on the sport.
His latest success comes as attention continues to surround his performances and prospects in the race for football’s major individual awards. His ability to score consistently and influence important matches has helped maintain his position among the game’s most prominent stars.
Beyond his achievements on the pitch, Mbappe has also revealed an unusual habit involving his football boots. The forward explained that he began removing the insoles from his footwear as a young player in Bondy, France, and has continued the practice even with his customised boots.
The habit has remained part of his routine over the years, although Mbappe advised younger footballers not to copy it unnecessarily. Instead, he suggested they leave the insoles in their boots rather than adopt a personal preference that developed during his childhood.
