According to Daily Post Nigeria, published on November 4, 2026, Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal has surpassed Kylian Mbappé's teenage scoring record in the UEFA Champions League after finding the net against Aston Villa.
The 19-year-old achieved the milestone during Barcelona's 3-0 victory over the English side on Tuesday, November 3, at Spotify Camp Nou.
Yamal opened the scoring in the seventh minute after Aston Villa lost possession in a dangerous area. The Barcelona winger took advantage of the mistake and calmly finished past goalkeeper Zion Suzuki to give his team an early lead.
That goal took his Champions League tally to 14, making him the highest-scoring player in the competition before turning 20. Mbappé previously held the record with 13 goals, meaning the Barcelona youngster has now moved ahead of the Real Madrid forward.
According to UEFA's statistics, Yamal has reached the milestone in 37 Champions League appearances. His achievement is another indication of the impact he has made in European football despite his young age.
Yamal also holds the record as the youngest player to start a Champions League match. He achieved that feat at 16 years and 83 days when Barcelona faced Porto in October 2023.
His latest accomplishment came during an impressive performance by Barcelona, who secured all three points against Aston Villa. Brazilian winger Raphinha scored twice in the second half to complete the 3-0 victory.
The result was an important response from Barcelona following their previous European defeat against Paris Saint-Germain.
Yamal's record is particularly significant because he still has time to increase his tally before turning 20 in July 2027. His latest goal has placed him ahead of Mbappé in a record previously held by the French international.
The Barcelona forward will now have the opportunity to extend his lead as the Champions League campaign continues.
