EPL Table After Saturday's Matches As Man City Open Six-Point Gap, Chelsea And Liverpool Secure Win

According to a report by Sky Sports on Saturday, October 17, 2026, Manchester City strengthened their position at the top of the English Premier League table following another impressive weekend of football, while Chelsea, Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Fulham also secured important victories.

Saturday's five Premier League fixtures produced significant results, with the battle for the title, European qualification places, and survival beginning to take shape.

Manchester City maintained their perfect start to the campaign after defeating Ipswich Town 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium.

Phil Foden opened the scoring for City before Erling Haaland scored twice to ensure the hosts collected maximum points despite a determined performance from Ipswich.

The victory means Manchester City have won all seven of their Premier League matches this season, collecting 21 points and establishing a six-point advantage over Arsenal.

The Gunners remain second with 15 points from six matches and will have an opportunity to close the gap when they face Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Chelsea continued their push towards the top of the standings with a convincing 2-0 victory over Everton.

Pedro Neto emerged as the standout performer, scoring twice to secure an important away victory for Xabi Alonso's side.

Chelsea now occupy fourth position with 13 points from seven matches, level with third-placed Brighton, who have a superior goal difference.

Liverpool also enjoyed a successful afternoon after coming from behind to defeat Brentford 2-1.

Alexander Isak scored the decisive goal as Liverpool secured their third league victory of the campaign.

The result leaves Liverpool fifth in the standings with 12 points, one point behind Chelsea and Brighton.

Elsewhere, Aston Villa secured a narrow 1-0 victory against Newcastle United at St James' Park, while Fulham defeated Hull City by the same scoreline.

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi scored Fulham's winning goal, helping his team secure three valuable points.

Following Saturday's matches, Manchester City lead the Premier League standings with 21 points, followed by Arsenal with 15 points.

Brighton occupy third position with 13 points, while Chelsea sit fourth with the same tally. Liverpool complete the top five with 12 points.

Brentford and Everton are sixth and seventh respectively with 10 points each, while Leeds United, Hull City, and Ipswich Town have nine points apiece.

Aston Villa's victory over Newcastle has also improved their position in the standings, while Manchester United remain in the bottom half with six points ahead of their Sunday encounter against Leeds United.

At the bottom, Sunderland, Bournemouth, and Tottenham Hotspur occupy the relegation places.

The results have increased the pressure on Arsenal to respond against Nottingham Forest, especially with Manchester City continuing to demonstrate remarkable consistency.

Manchester United will also be hoping to improve their league position when Michael Carrick's men travel to Elland Road on Sunday.

With several fixtures remaining in the seventh round of matches, further changes are expected before the Premier League table takes its final shape for the weekend.
