Arsenal Superstar Set to Become One of Highest-Paid Players in The Premier League

According to a report by the London Evening Standard on Friday, October 16, 2026, Arsenal are looking to secure the Norwegian midfielder’s future after his impressive performances at the start of the 2026/27 season.

The 27-year-old is still considered a key player by manager Mikel Arteta, with whom he is reportedly also delighted to be playing.

Talks between Arsenal and Odegaard’s representatives are ongoing, with both sides hopeful that a deal will be struck without any major obstacles.

Odegaard’s current contract runs out in the summer of 2028. However, the Gunners want to make sure they have the player’s future secured before then, as they do not want to be in a situation where they have to contemplate selling their captain.

The Norway international came to the Emirates Stadium from the Spanish capital in 2021, initially on loan but then completing a permanent transfer worth around £30 million.

Since then he has become one of Arsenal’s most influential players, combining creativity, goals, and leadership.

He has made almost 250 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring 46 goals and providing 46 assists. Despite a recent string of injuries, he has remained an important part of the first team.

There had been talk in the past that Odegaard could be sold to fund other transfers. However, he has impressed immensely over recent months, and his performances seem to have convinced the club that they need to keep him.

Odegaard played a key role in Norway’s successful World Cup campaign in 2026 before returning to form at club level. He has already scored four times in 10 matches this season, showing that he remains a threat in front of goal.

Arsenal are now looking to finalise a deal with the midfielder, and an announcement could be made imminently if talks continue at their current pace.

A renewed contract would prove a major statement of intent from the Gunners, who have been working hard to restructure their playing squad into a sustainable long-term success formula.

The new agreement will also be seen as a major statement of intent from Arsenal, after Arteta was given a long-term contract recently. They now also have Odegaard committed to staying at the Emirates Stadium for the foreseeable future.
