According to a report by FootballTransfers on Friday, October 23, 2026, Eintracht Frankfurt manager Adi Hütter has warned Arsenal transfer target Can Uzun that his long-term career prospects could be affected if he fails to improve his contribution to the team's overall performance.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has recently faced scrutiny after losing his place in Frankfurt's starting line-up. Despite making an impressive start to the season, his recent performances have raised questions about his consistency, defensive responsibilities and ability to contribute beyond attacking situations.
Uzun initially impressed with four goals and three assists in six appearances earlier in the campaign. He also enjoyed a remarkable start to the 2025/26 season, scoring in five consecutive Bundesliga matches and establishing himself as an exciting attacking prospect.
However, his recent situation has changed under Hütter. After previously featuring in every match, the Turkey international was dropped to the bench for Frankfurt's 1-0 victory over Cologne last Friday and remained an unused substitute throughout the encounter.
Speaking about the youngster's development, Hütter explained that understanding collective responsibility would be crucial to his progress as a professional footballer.
"The sooner Can understands that football is also a team sport where he can contribute his skills, the greater the career he will have," the Frankfurt manager said.
"If he doesn't realise this, he might end up being his own worst enemy."
Hütter's comments underline his expectation that Uzun must demonstrate greater commitment to the team's tactical demands, both during training sessions and competitive matches. The manager believes that individual attacking talent must be supported by consistent teamwork and discipline.
Uzun has encountered similar concerns before, with former Frankfurt manager Albert Riera also questioning whether his attacking qualities alone were sufficient to secure regular playing time.
The youngster's preferred positions are attacking midfield and withdrawn forward, although he has frequently operated on the left wing this season. The positional adjustment could be affecting his effectiveness and overall attacking output.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have reportedly contacted Uzun's representatives as they consider potential attacking additions. Frankfurt previously valued the player at €60 million, while Galatasaray were also linked with a move during the summer transfer window.
However, his uncertain role at Frankfurt could influence future discussions. Should Arsenal pursue the transfer, Uzun would need to demonstrate stronger defensive work and pressing ability to meet Mikel Arteta's tactical expectations.
