According to a report by Barca Universal on Tuesday October 27, 2026, Barcelona could face disciplinary sanctions after La Liga decided to report an alleged assault on Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga to the Spanish Football Federation’s disciplinary committee.
The incident occurred during Real Madrid’s celebrations following their 2-1 victory over Barcelona on Sunday. According to reports, disciplinary authorities will examine the incident and determine whether punishment is necessary.
Barcelona have endured a difficult week after suffering defeats against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and Real Madrid in La Liga. Their latest setback has also raised concerns about their recent performances and potential disciplinary consequences.
The controversy emerged shortly after Kylian Mbappe scored Madrid’s winning goal, which Camavinga helped create. As Madrid players celebrated near Barcelona supporters, a spectator was reportedly seen swinging a flagpole towards the French midfielder.
The incident prompted several Real Madrid players to intervene and escort Camavinga away from the stands. Referee Juan Martinez Munuera also included the disturbances in his official match report.
Other objects were thrown towards the players during the celebrations. A water bottle and a Coca-Cola can were reportedly hurled from the stands, although neither made contact with Camavinga. The situation resulted in a stadium announcement and a brief interruption that lasted approximately two minutes.
La Liga have now decided to refer the alleged assault to the relevant disciplinary authorities. Officials will review the available footage and evidence before determining whether any sanctions should follow.
For Barcelona, the development adds to their recent difficulties, with disappointing results, injury concerns and potential disciplinary issues creating further complications.
The defeat also ended Barcelona’s nine-match winning start to the La Liga season. Real Madrid have consequently reduced the gap at the top of the table to just three points.
Although tensions are expected during El Clasico, they do not justify physical aggression towards players. However, the actions of individual supporters should not be taken as representative of Barcelona’s entire fanbase.
The disciplinary process will determine whether Barcelona face punishment, with the club hoping any potential sanctions will not be severe.
