According to a report by Barca Universal on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has commended Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal for his remarkable development in professional football after the teenager secured third place in the 2026 Ballon d’Or rankings.
Kane, who claimed this year’s Ballon d’Or award, praised Yamal’s achievements and highlighted the speed at which the young Spaniard has risen to prominence. The England international reflected on his own journey, explaining how his early career involved several loan spells before he eventually established himself as one of Europe’s most prolific strikers.
Yamal finished behind Kane and Kylian Mbappe in the final Ballon d’Or standings following another impressive campaign with Barcelona. Although he missed out on football’s most prestigious individual honour, the 19-year-old maintained his remarkable record by winning the Kopa Trophy for the third consecutive year.
Speaking about the Barcelona winger, Kane said, “Lamine Yamal is an incredible player. What he does at that age is truly incredible,” the England captain said. “When I was his age, I was playing with different clubs on loan!”
The Bayern Munich forward’s comments highlighted the contrasting paths both players followed in their pursuit of success. Kane gained valuable experience through loan moves during the early stages of his career before progressing into an elite goalscorer and becoming one of the most respected forwards in European football.
Yamal, meanwhile, has enjoyed a considerably faster rise, becoming a key figure for both Barcelona and the Spanish national team at a remarkably young age. His creativity, technical ability and confidence on the ball have helped him establish himself as one of football’s most exciting emerging stars.
Kane also praised the teenager’s potential, recognising the exceptional ability he has demonstrated despite having relatively little experience at the highest level of the game.
“He has started his career in a great way, and what he does at that early age shows the extent of the talent and quality he possesses,” he added.
Yamal’s third-place finish marks another significant chapter in his Ballon d’Or journey. After finishing 10th in 2024, he climbed to second position in 2025 before taking third place in the 2026 edition.
Despite missing out on the main award this year, Yamal continues to strengthen his reputation among football’s brightest young talents. His third consecutive Kopa Trophy triumph also underlines his consistency and growing influence in the sport.
With many years of football still ahead of him, the Barcelona winger will aim to maintain his progress, achieve further success and eventually compete for the Ballon d’Or title.
