Marcus Rashford could be on his way out of Manchester United once again if he cannot convince Michael Carrick that he deserves a regular place in the starting line-up, according to a report by TeamTalk on Monday, November 2, 2026.
The 29-year-old England forward returned to Old Trafford ahead of this season hoping to rebuild his career after enjoying encouraging loan spells at Aston Villa and Barcelona.
His struggles under former United manager Ruben Amorim had raised questions about his future at the club. However, his performances during his temporary spells away from Manchester helped restore his confidence and attracted interest from several clubs.
Barcelona and other potential suitors ultimately declined to make their interest permanent during the summer transfer window, meaning Rashford had to return to his boyhood club.
He initially showed promising form at the beginning of the campaign and looked capable of making a significant contribution to United's attack. However, his influence has gradually declined, while a hip injury has also affected his progress.
Football Insider's Pete O'Rourke now suggests that Rashford may seek another transfer if he remains on the sidelines and struggles to secure consistent playing time under Carrick.
Everton are reportedly among the clubs that could consider signing him. The Toffees are believed to need attacking reinforcements after missing out on summer moves for Joshua Zirkzee and Folarin Balogun.
United are said to be prepared to let Rashford leave during the January transfer window. However, the club would prefer to arrange a loan move with an option for the interested team to sign him permanently.
According to O'Rourke, the forward's decision will depend heavily on his involvement in Carrick's team and whether the manager continues to view him as an important player.
Speaking to Football Insider, O'Rourke stated: "If he's not playing regularly and he finds himself sort of on the fringes at Old Trafford, then maybe he might have to seek a move away to another club."
The journalist added that Rashford would not rule out another move, having already demonstrated his willingness to leave temporarily by joining Aston Villa and Barcelona on loan.
However, O'Rourke believes the England international would prefer to remain at Manchester United if he is given regular opportunities and continues to feature prominently in Carrick's plans.
Rashford's next move will therefore depend on his fitness, his role within the squad and how much playing time he receives over the months ahead.
