According to a report by Football Transfer on Monday November 2, 2026, Chelsea have reportedly begun discussions with Estêvão Willian over a new contract as they attempt to discourage interest from several major European clubs in the Brazilian youngster.
The 19-year-old has struggled to secure regular playing opportunities this season following Chelsea’s €138 million acquisition of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa. However, he impressed during his first Premier League start against Manchester United.
Estêvão delivered an encouraging performance at Stamford Bridge, becoming an important attacking threat despite Chelsea having several established options in their forward line. Manager Xabi Alonso subsequently praised the teenager’s response to receiving his opportunity.
Alonso revealed that Estêvão had been informed earlier in the week that he would start against United. He explained that the youngster responded positively and demonstrated his readiness to contribute to the team.
The Chelsea manager said: “He had the best response and showed that he deserves more and that he was prepared, and that is what we want from our players.”
Alonso also highlighted Estêvão’s connection with supporters, his attacking threat and determination throughout the match. Although the Brazilian came close to scoring, he eventually appeared tired after working hard for the team.
Before the Manchester United fixture, Estêvão had managed only 172 minutes from a possible 990 this season. His limited involvement encouraged speculation that he could consider leaving Stamford Bridge in 2027.
Paris Saint-Germain were reportedly interested in exploring a January transfer, while Barcelona also remained linked with the attacker after previously missing out on signing him from Palmeiras.
However, Spanish publication AS reports that Chelsea have opened contract renewal negotiations with the Brazilian. Despite his existing agreement running until 2033, the club reportedly wants to reward him with an improved salary.
Chelsea have therefore decided against sanctioning his departure and instead intend to give Estêvão a more significant role in their long-term plans.
