Manchester United could move for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen in the January transfer window, according to a report by TEAMtalk on October 30, 2026. The Galatasaray forward is among five strikers being considered by the Premier League club as potential targets.
United are reportedly keen to recruit a new centre-forward following concerns about their attacking department. This will help manager Michael Carrick to strengthen his firepower upfront.
Meanwhile, Osimhen, who has established himself as one of Europe's prolific strikers, could cost between £80m and £100m. Thus is because Galatasaray understood to value the Nigerian international highly.
It should be noted that the 27-year-old previously attracted interest from Chelsea in 2024. However, a proposed transfer from Napoli collapsed following disagreements over personal terms. He subsequently joined Galatasaray, where he continued his impressive goalscoring exploits.
Meanwhile, Osimhen is not the only striker on United's reported shortlist. Freiburg's Igor Matanovic, Real Betis' Troy Parrott, Crystal Palace's Jean-Philippe Mateta and Brighton's Charalampos Kostoulas have also been mentioned.
Interestingly, former Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse has backed Osimhen's potential move to Old Trafford. Cisse described the Super Eagles star as a complete forward whose unpredictability and goalscoring ability could address United's attacking shortcomings. Former United defender Rio Ferdinand has also previously expressed admiration for the Nigerian, urging the club to sign him.
