Barcelona Set for Paltry Fine After El Clasico Incident vs Real Madrid

Barcelona could face a financial penalty of up to €602 after objects were thrown towards Real Madrid players during their recent El Clasico defeat, with La Liga also investigating a separate incident involving midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.

According to a report by Barca Universal on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, the incident occurred after Kylian Mbappe scored his second goal of the match, forcing the referee to activate the stadium’s protocol for objects thrown onto the pitch.

The La Liga Disciplinary Committee confirmed the potential sanction on Wednesday while examining incidents recorded during last weekend’s league fixtures.

According to the referee’s official report, Juan Martinez Munuera, a water bottle and a soda can were thrown from the North Stand in the 87th minute. The section is largely occupied by Barcelona supporters, although neither object reportedly made contact with any player.

Following the incident, the referee activated the initial stage of the established safety procedure, with a warning subsequently broadcast through the stadium’s public address system.

The match was briefly interrupted to allow the announcement to be delivered, in accordance with the regulations governing objects thrown onto the playing area.

The disciplinary committee has classified the incident as a minor offence under Article 117 of its Disciplinary Code. Barcelona could consequently be fined as much as €602, although the eventual amount will depend on the seriousness attributed to the incident.

Reports indicate that a medium-level punishment would result in a €301 fine for the Catalan club.

However, the financial penalty is not the only disciplinary issue Barcelona could face following the Clasico.

La Liga has also opened an investigation into allegations that some supporters struck Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga on the head with flagpoles during the celebrations that followed Mbappe’s second goal.

The matter has reportedly been referred to the appropriate authorities for further examination, with disciplinary proceedings expected to determine whether any additional punishment is necessary.

The developments have added to Barcelona’s difficult week after consecutive defeats against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid brought their unbeaten run to an end and reduced their advantage at the top of the league standings.
