According to a report by BBC Sport on Monday, October 26, 2026, Paris Saint-Germain returned to the top of the Ligue 1 table after securing a well-deserved 2-0 victory over Lyon at the Parc des Princes.
Luis Enrique's side went into the match hoping to claim all three points and put themselves back in the driving seat in the title race, but they had to work hard before finding a breakthrough against a Lyon team that defended well during the first half.
PSG dominated possession from the opening minutes and created several chances, although they were unable to turn their control of the game into a goal before the break. Lyon also tried to make use of the few opportunities they had, but the home side remained organised and prevented their visitors from taking the lead.
The hosts continued to put pressure on Lyon after the restart, with Ferran Torres and Desire Doue among the players who tried to find a way through the visitors' defence. However, Lyon goalkeeper Dominik Greif made important saves to keep his team in the contest.
PSG finally broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute when Senny Mayulu found the back of the net with a right-footed effort from outside the box after receiving a pass from Mika Godts, giving the home supporters a reason to celebrate after a frustrating spell in front of goal.
The goal gave the hosts more confidence, and they continued to push forward in search of another strike that would make the result safe. Their efforts paid off in the 84th minute when Godts scored from outside the box with a right-footed shot, following an assist from Quentin Ndjantou.
Lyon struggled to respond during the closing stages as PSG controlled possession and protected their advantage until the final whistle.
With the victory, Luis Enrique's team returned to the top of Ligue 1 with a one-point lead over second-placed Rennes, while Lyon remained fifth with 14 points.
