David Raya Dedicates Nottingham Win to One Arsenal Star: 'He is a special player

According to a report by London Evening Standard on Sunday October 18, 2026, David Raya has praised Noni Madueke for his decisive contribution in Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

The goalkeeper described the winger as a special player after his deflected strike secured three valuable points at the City Ground. Raya also highlighted Arsenal’s determination, maturity and defensive discipline following their recent defeat to Brighton.

Madueke broke the deadlock in the 80th minute to settle a closely contested encounter. His effort proved decisive in a match where Nottingham Forest created most of the chances. Arsenal’s only shot on target was enough to secure the victory and preserve their clean sheet.

Speaking after the game, Raya praised his teammates for their patience and persistence. He explained that Arsenal demonstrated character by continuing to search for a winning goal instead of settling for another draw.

The goalkeeper also recalled Arsenal’s previous experiences at the City Ground, where they had recorded goalless draws in the last two years. He credited the team’s continued attacking efforts, including deliveries from Bukayo Saka, for creating the opportunity that led to Madueke’s goal.

Raya expressed particular delight at Madueke’s decisive moment. He acknowledged the difficulty of playing against Nottingham Forest at their home ground. He also described the winning goal as a special achievement for the winger.

The Spanish goalkeeper further reflected on Arsenal’s preparation for the fixture following their disappointing defeat to Brighton. He explained that the team returned strongly after spending 19 days without a match.

Despite Forest enjoying the greater share of opportunities, Arsenal maintained their defensive organisation until the final whistle. Their resilience ensured that Raya recorded another clean sheet away from home.

The victory represents an important response from Mikel Arteta’s side after their setback against Brighton. Raya’s comments emphasised the collective determination that helped Arsenal overcome a difficult opponent.

Arsenal will now aim to build on the result and maintain their momentum in their upcoming fixtures.
