According to a report by Barca Universal on Monday November 2, 2026, Barcelona continue to regard Gavi as an important member of the squad despite his limited playing time, and the club have no plans to consider an exit for the 22-year-old midfielder.
The academy graduate has struggled to secure a regular place under Hansi Flick during the 2026/27 campaign. He has managed only 191 minutes across seven appearances, starting just twice. Although a minor injury ruled him out of a couple of matches, Gavi has also remained an unused substitute in five La Liga fixtures.
The midfielder was not introduced during Barcelona’s recent games against Real Madrid and Deportivo Alaves. His reduced involvement has reportedly left him unhappy with how Flick has handled his situation. However, Fabrizio Romano reports that the club still value him and see him as an important part of the team.
The competition for places in Barcelona’s midfield has made it difficult for Gavi to earn more opportunities. Pedri remains a regular starter, while summer arrival Rodri has become Flick’s preferred partner for the Canary Islands-born midfielder. Marc Bernal has also impressed when given chances, and Fermin Lopez has established himself in the attacking midfield role.
Frenkie de Jong’s return from injury could make the situation even more challenging for Gavi. Despite the competition, Barcelona are not considering letting the 22-year-old leave.
Flick addressed the midfielder’s situation during his press conference ahead of the Champions League meeting with Aston Villa. He praised Gavi’s quality and insisted that he remains an option, although decisions during matches can change the original plan. The manager added that he had spoken with the player and stressed the importance of maintaining his confidence.
It remains to be seen whether Gavi’s role will increase in the coming weeks, but Barcelona continue to see him as a key part of their plans.
