According to a report by BBC Sport on Sunday, October 25, 2026, Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-1 in the 265th El Clasico, with Kylian Mbappe scoring twice to end the hosts’ hopes of becoming the first team in LaLiga history to win their opening 10 matches of a season.
Real Madrid created the first clear opportunity when Arda Guler capitalised on a misplaced pass from Pedri and raced into the Barcelona penalty area, but the Turkish midfielder fired his effort over the crossbar.
Jose Mourinho, managing Real Madrid in his first Clasico since March 2013, was also cautioned by referee Juan Martinez Munuera after protesting a foul awarded against Aurelien Tchouameni.
Barcelona were forced into an early change when right-back Xavi Espart suffered an injury around the half-hour mark and was replaced by Alejandro Balde.
Real Madrid continued to threaten, with Mbappe sending an acrobatic volley over the bar before Anthony Gordon tested Barcelona goalkeeper Andriy Lunin. The Ukrainian goalkeeper was making his first appearance of the season after Thibaut Courtois was ruled out with flu.
Mbappe eventually broke the deadlock four minutes before half-time. Gerard Martin's clearance struck the Real Madrid forward from close range and deflected into the net, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Barcelona responded strongly after the interval and eventually found their equaliser in the 61st minute. Raphinha received the ball inside the penalty area before finding the far corner, registering his 15th goal in all competitions this season.
Real Madrid immediately looked for a second goal, but Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia denied Guler with a save from his snapshot.
Barcelona then came close to taking the lead when Martin's header forced a superb reflex save from Lunin. Lamine Yamal also went close after bending an effort narrowly wide, while Frenkie de Jong later saw his shot blocked.
Real Madrid, however, delivered the decisive blow three minutes from full-time. Eduardo Camavinga beat Garcia to a through ball before squaring for Mbappe, who completed his brace with a simple finish to restore Madrid's advantage.
The victory gave Real Madrid their first win at the Nou Camp since October 2023 and only their second victory in their last eight meetings with Barcelona.
Madrid remained third in the LaLiga standings but moved within three points of Barcelona, whose run of 23 consecutive home league victories came to an end.
