EPL Table After Sunday Matches As Manchester United Drops To 16th Position

According to a report by BBC Sport on Sunday, October 25, 2026, Manchester United suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat against Bournemouth at Old Trafford, dropping to 16th position in the English Premier League standings. The result was among the major talking points of Sunday's fixtures, while Liverpool and Newcastle United secured valuable victories to strengthen their positions in the table.

Bournemouth delivered an impressive performance against Manchester United, making effective use of their scoring opportunities. Rayan gave the visitors the lead in the 38th minute, putting pressure on the home side before the interval. United struggled to respond and conceded another goal shortly before halftime when Marcus Tavernier extended Bournemouth's advantage.

Michael Carrick's team returned for the second half hoping to recover, but their attacking efforts failed to produce a goal. Bournemouth completed their convincing victory in the 71st minute through Evanilson, who scored the third goal. United could not find a consolation strike, leaving their supporters disappointed as the club slipped to 16th place.

Liverpool recorded a comfortable 2-0 victory over Brighton at Anfield. The hosts took the lead in the 17th minute after Pascal Groß inadvertently directed the ball into his own net. Alexander Isak doubled Liverpool's advantage four minutes later, giving his team control of the contest. Brighton attempted to respond after halftime, but Liverpool defended effectively to preserve their lead and move into the Premier League's top four.

Newcastle United also enjoyed a successful afternoon, defeating Crystal Palace 2-0 away from home. William Osula opened the scoring shortly after the break, giving the visitors an important advantage. Harvey Barnes added Newcastle's second goal in the 58th minute, making it difficult for Palace to recover. Newcastle maintained their defensive organisation until the final whistle to secure all three points.

Meanwhile, Hull City and Brentford shared the points following a 1-1 draw. Oli McBurnie put Hull ahead in the 24th minute, but Dango Ouattara equalised for Brentford in the 68th minute. Neither team managed to score again, leaving Hull in 10th position.

Sunderland and Leeds United also played out a goalless draw at the Stadium of Light. Despite opportunities for both sides, neither found the breakthrough required to claim victory.

Overall, Liverpool and Newcastle benefited from Sunday's results, while Manchester United faced a significant setback after their heavy home defeat to Bournemouth.
