Real Madrid Receive Huge Boost as Key Star Cleared to Face Racing Santander

According to a report by Madrid Universal on Wednesday October 28, 2026, Real Madrid have received a major boost after medical examinations confirmed that Federico Valverde has not suffered an injury and should be available for Sunday's La Liga clash against Racing Santander.

The Uruguayan midfielder raised concerns during the 2-1 victory over Barcelona at the Camp Nou after experiencing discomfort in his right thigh. However, an MRI scan conducted on Wednesday has reportedly confirmed that he escaped any muscle damage.

According to journalist Abraham P. Romero, further medical tests have cleared the Real Madrid captain following his injury scare. The development will come as welcome news to Jose Mourinho, who considers Valverde an important figure in his tactical plans.

The 28-year-old experienced discomfort in the back of his right thigh during the first half of Sunday's Clasico. The problem reportedly began after he made a sliding challenge.

Despite the discomfort, Valverde continued playing until the 62nd minute. He was eventually replaced by Denzel Dumfries.

Mourinho later revealed that his captain had played through the problem for more than 40 minutes. Although the initial assessment suggested that the issue was not serious, additional examinations were necessary to rule out muscular damage.

Valverde has become an integral part of Madrid's defensive structure under Mourinho. His deployment at right-back has improved the team's balance while allowing Bernardo Silva or Arda Guler to operate as a creative midfielder.

The Uruguayan's energy and physical strength also make him effective when pushing forward along the right flank. However, his heavy workload could become a concern as Madrid prepare for a demanding run of fixtures.

Valverde has accumulated 1,071 minutes this season, accounting for approximately 92% of Madrid's available playing time.

With away matches against Racing Santander, AEK Athens and Valencia approaching, Mourinho must carefully manage his captain's involvement.

Although Valverde is expected to be available this weekend, Mourinho could consider resting him and giving Dumfries or Trent Alexander-Arnold an opportunity. His recovery provides Madrid with relief, but his eventual involvement remains uncertain.
