Manchester United Receive Major Injury Blow as Striker Set to be out injured till next Year

Manchester United are facing an extended spell without Benjamin Šeško, with the striker reportedly not expected to return to action until at least January due to a shin injury.

According to The Athletic FC on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, the Slovenian forward is likely to remain sidelined for the coming months as United prioritise his complete recovery. The club reportedly wants him to return in 2027 only when he has regained full fitness and can play without concerns about the injury.

Šeško’s absence represents a significant setback for United, who will have to find alternative attacking solutions while he continues his rehabilitation. His unavailability could affect the team’s attacking options during an important period of the campaign, particularly as they look to improve their results across competitions.

The 23-year-old arrived at Old Trafford with high expectations, having been brought in to strengthen the club’s forward line. His pace, physical presence and goalscoring ability were expected to provide United with another dimension in attack, especially against teams that defend deep.

However, the shin injury has disrupted his progress and left the club having to manage his recovery carefully. United appear unwilling to take unnecessary risks by bringing him back before he is ready, with a longer recovery period considered preferable to a premature return.

Shin problems can be particularly challenging for attacking players, who regularly depend on quick acceleration, sudden changes of direction and physical battles. A rushed comeback could leave Šeško vulnerable to further complications.

United’s medical staff are therefore expected to keep a close watch on his rehabilitation and evaluate his progress before deciding when he can return to full training and competitive action.

His absence could also give other forwards an opportunity to establish themselves and shoulder more responsibility in attack. The coaching staff will need to explore alternative centre-forward options until the Slovenian is fit enough to rejoin the squad.

Although the news will disappoint United supporters, ensuring Šeško makes a complete recovery remains the priority. A fully fit striker could provide an important boost to the team during the second half of the season.

For now, United must prepare to continue without him, with the club hoping he can return in 2027 ready to make a meaningful contribution.
