Confirmed World Cup Final Fixture After Nigeria Defeated South American Giant 3-1

According to a report by ESPN on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, Nigeria's Flamingos have discovered their opponents for the final of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup following their impressive semi-final triumph over Brazil. The Nigerian girls will now face Japan in the decisive encounter after the Asian nation also secured qualification for the final.

The highly anticipated championship match will be played on Saturday, November 7, at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat, Morocco. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:30 pm GMT, which translates to 7:30 pm Nigerian time.

Nigeria reached this stage of the competition after delivering a memorable 3-1 victory against Brazil. The Flamingos produced an outstanding display, particularly in the second half, to overcome the South American side and move within one victory of lifting the trophy.

Queen Joseph gave Nigeria the breakthrough in the 56th minute, putting the team in front with an important goal. Awawu Bashiru then strengthened the Flamingos' position by scoring in the 71st minute before adding another in the 80th minute. Her two goals took Nigeria's advantage to three goals and placed them in a commanding position.

Although Brazil found the net through Greise Kelly in the 89th minute, Nigeria maintained their advantage until the final whistle, confirming their place in the tournament's final.

Japan, on the other hand, had to work hard to eliminate defending champions DPR Korea. Their semi-final encounter ended dramatically after Japan scored a stoppage-time equaliser in the 90+5th minute, having conceded in the 52nd minute. The Japanese team subsequently demonstrated their composure by winning the penalty shootout 4-1.

With these results, Nigeria and Japan are set to compete for the biggest prize in youth women's football on Saturday.

The Flamingos have a special opportunity to achieve something unprecedented in their history. Having previously finished third at the 2022 tournament, Nigeria will now be competing in their first-ever final.

Defeating Japan would make the Flamingos world champions for the first time and provide a historic moment for Nigerian women's football.
