According to a report by GOAL on Wednesday October 21, 2026, Paris Saint-Germain have suffered a major injury setback after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture during their 4-2 Champions League victory over Barcelona.
The Georgian international was forced off early in the second half after injuring his right knee following a challenge involving Barcelona’s Xavi Espart. Kvaratskhelia was visibly in pain and required assistance to leave the pitch after being unable to put weight on his injured leg.
According to the reported medical update, PSG have confirmed that the 25-year-old will undergo surgery in the coming days. Although the club have not announced an official recovery timeline, an ACL rupture typically requires several months of rehabilitation, potentially ruling the winger out for a significant portion of the season.
Kvaratskhelia’s absence would represent a considerable blow to PSG, given his dribbling ability, creativity and threat in the final third. His injury could force the coaching staff to reconsider their attacking options as they look to maintain their momentum in domestic and European competitions.
The setback is made worse by the reported injuries to Ousmane Dembele and Marquinhos, who also left the Barcelona match with physical problems. Dembele is reportedly dealing with a left thigh injury, while Marquinhos has suffered a right thigh problem, with both players expected to undergo treatment over the coming weeks.
PSG will now hope their remaining players can step up during a challenging period. However, Kvaratskhelia’s reported ACL injury is a significant concern for the French champions, who face an uncertain wait before learning when one of their key attacking players could return to action.
