According to a report by Daily Post on Monday October 19, 2026, Bursaspor coach Mustafa Er has praised Kelechi Iheanacho after the Nigerian striker set a new Turkish football record by scoring in 10 consecutive league matches.
Iheanacho achieved the historic feat during Bursaspor’s 3-0 victory over Muğlaspor on October 15, surpassing the previous record of nine consecutive scoring matches held by Galatasaray legend Metin Oktay and former Turkey international Saffet Sancaklı.
Reacting to the achievement, Er said: “It's a very difficult record to break. Our wish is for him to extend this streak even further.”
He added: “He is extremely happy, has great friendships, and is working incredibly hard.”
The coach also stressed the importance of the team’s contribution, saying: “To judge it solely through Iheanacho would be unfair to both the team and the club. The contributions of his teammates cannot be ignored.”
Er further praised the club’s management for signing the Nigerian forward, stating: “I also congratulate our management for bringing a Premier League-quality player to the team and managing his psychology correctly.”
Iheanacho will now aim to extend his remarkable scoring run when Bursaspor face Pendikspor, with the Nigerian striker hoping to score in an 11th consecutive league match.
