According to a report by BBC Sport on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, Manchester United suffered a shocking 4-1 defeat against Como in their UEFA Champions League match.
Como started the match brightly and took the lead just two minutes into the game through Nico Paz, who finished with his left foot after receiving a pass from Lucas Da Cunha. Manchester United struggled to take control of the game as the Italian side continued to put pressure on their defence.
Despite trying to find a way back into the match, United could not stop Como from extending their advantage before the break, with the home side looking more confident and dangerous whenever they moved forward.
The situation became worse for Carrick's men shortly after the restart when Anastasios Douvikas scored in the 49th minute, finishing a move created by Nico Paz and Martin Baturina to put Como firmly in control of the contest.
United's problems continued as Carlos Baleba lost possession in a dangerous area, allowing Paz to score his second goal of the night in the 57th minute and make it 3-0. The goal exposed another weakness in United's midfield and made their chances of getting anything from the match even smaller.
Como added a fourth goal in the 76th minute when Jacobo Ramon headed home a cross from Kaiki, leaving the travelling supporters disappointed as some began to leave the stadium before the final whistle.
Joshua Zirkzee managed to score a late consolation goal in the 90th minute, with Amad Diallo providing the assist, but it did little to change the outcome of the match.
With the defeat, Carrick's Manchester United dropped to 20th position on the Champions League table with just three points, while Como moved up to sixth place with six points after an impressive victory.
