According to a report by BBC Sport on Sunday November 1, 2026, Arsenal claimed a valuable 1-0 victory over Liverpool in an entertaining Premier League encounter, with Kai Havertz scoring the decisive goal as Mikel Arteta's side secured three important points away.
The visitors made an encouraging start, creating opportunities through Noni Madueke and Christos Tzolis. Liverpool responded with attacking pressure, but Arsenal's defensive organisation helped restrict their opponents' clear opportunities early.
Arsenal broke the deadlock in the sixteenth minute when Declan Rice delivered an excellent pass into the penalty area, allowing Havertz to finish confidently from close range and give Arsenal the lead.
Liverpool immediately searched for an equaliser, with David Raya denying dangerous attacks. The goalkeeper collected crosses, intercepted passes and remained alert, frustrating the hosts whenever they threatened to produce a decisive finish.
The home side came close through Florian Wirtz, whose free kick struck the crossbar in the thirty-ninth minute. Alexis Mac Allister also headed narrowly over, leaving Liverpool disappointed before halftime.
Liverpool appealed for a penalty after Cody Gakpo went down inside the area, but referee Andy Madley rejected the claim following a VAR review, allowing Arsenal to maintain their advantage.
After the interval, Liverpool enjoyed spells of possession and attempted to increase their attacking intensity. However, Arsenal defended resolutely, blocking efforts from Wirtz and Alexander Isak while limiting dangerous opportunities.
Arsenal also threatened through Timber, Madueke and Tzolis, whose effort required an excellent save from Alisson. Both managers introduced substitutes as the contest entered its demanding final stages.
Liverpool pushed desperately during stoppage time, but Arsenal's defenders repeatedly blocked their attempts. Raya collected another dangerous delivery, ensuring the hosts could not find an equaliser before the final whistle.
