LAS 3-6 LIV: Match Review And Updated UEFA Champions League Table

Liverpool claimed a thrilling 6-3 win over LASK Linz in the UEFA Champions League, with Bradley Barcola scoring three goals to guide the English club to an emphatic away victory, according to BBC Sport on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

Despite starting with the third-youngest line-up in their Champions League history, Liverpool produced an impressive attacking display. The result marked their 26th victory in their previous 30 group-stage and league-phase matches in the competition.

Liverpool began the encounter brightly and created several opportunities in the opening stages. Koumas chased Frimpong’s through pass, went around the goalkeeper but was left with an awkward angle that prevented him from finishing. Wirtz also came close to scoring after beating defenders inside the penalty area.

The visitors eventually took the lead when Araujo outjumped the LASK defence to head in a corner. The goal was his first for Liverpool since arriving from Barcelona on a loan deal.

Barcola then increased Liverpool’s advantage after Koumas combined with Ngumoha. The ball reached the French forward, who swept it into the net to register his first goal for the club.

Koumas thought he had scored soon afterwards, but the referee’s decision to rule out his effort for offside denied him the goal. Gravenberch also came close when his shot struck the inside of the post.

Liverpool maintained their dominance and scored again before the interval. Wirtz played a superb pass to find Barcola, who calmly finished to put the visitors 3-0 ahead and secure his second goal of the match.

LASK tried to respond in the second half, with Lang narrowly missing the target with an effort directed towards Alisson Becker’s goal. Liverpool soon extended their lead, however, as Frimpong headed home to score the first headed goal of his career.

Another attempt by Koumas was ruled out for offside before Ljubicic came off the bench and scored for the Austrian side. The substitute controlled the ball with his first touch and sent it into the net with his second.

Liverpool quickly re-established their four-goal advantage when Barcola met Frimpong’s cross and finished neatly to complete his first professional hat-trick.

Koumas subsequently found the net after connecting with another Frimpong delivery, forcing the ball between the goalkeeper’s legs to make the score 6-1.

LASK refused to give up and managed to score twice towards the end of the game. Flecker, who entered as a substitute, first headed the ball into an empty net at the far post before scoring again with a composed finish into the corner, cutting Liverpool’s lead to three goals.

Nevertheless, Liverpool successfully protected their advantage until the final whistle, collecting all three points. LASK, meanwhile, extended their winless streak in European football to 10 consecutive matches.
