Chelsea legends Didier Drogba and John Terry have reacted to a birthday message sent to former club owner Roman Abramovich by ex-Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia.
According to a report by The Athletic on Sunday, 25 October 2026, Granovskaia sent Abramovich a heartfelt message to mark his 60th birthday on Saturday, 24 October, prompting reactions from several former Chelsea players.
Granovskaia, who worked closely with Abramovich during his time at Stamford Bridge, reflected on their long-standing relationship and the memories they shared throughout nearly three decades.
She wrote: "Wishing Roman a very happy birthday! A special milestone this year, although I’d rather not mention the number — it would only remind me that we’ve known each other for almost 30 years, which hardly seems possible.
"So many extraordinary memories along the way. Wishing him lots of happiness and many more wonderful moments to come!"
Drogba shared Granovskaia’s message, while Terry, David Luiz and Victor Moses responded with blue heart emojis, showing their appreciation for the former owner and the ex-director.
Granovskaia played an influential role in Chelsea’s operations during Abramovich’s ownership. She began representing the Russian billionaire in transfer and contract negotiations in 2010 before joining the club’s board in 2013. She became chief executive the following year.
Her time at Chelsea coincided with one of the most successful periods in the club’s history, with the Blues winning major domestic and European honours under Abramovich.
The former owner’s 19-year spell at Stamford Bridge ended in 2022 after the United Kingdom government sanctioned him following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Chelsea were subsequently acquired by a consortium led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.
Abramovich’s tenure delivered five Premier League titles and two Champions League trophies, achievements that have continued to shape his legacy among Chelsea supporters.
The birthday message also arrived on a difficult weekend for the club, following Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Neither Chelsea nor their former ownership figures have announced any change to their current positions in connection with the birthday tribute.
However, the reactions from Drogba, Terry and other former players highlight the lasting relationships formed during Abramovich’s era.
