According to a report by Madrid Universal on Thursday October 15, 2026, on Wednesday, Real Madrid won an exciting 4-3 match against AS Roma, and Kylian Mbappe reached three important goals in the Champions League.
As he scored in his 100th appearance, the French forward surpassed Raul Gonzalez in the all-time scoring rankings and became the youngest player to reach that landmark.
In honor of the event, Mbappe scored his 72nd goal in the Champions League. With this goal, he cemented his position as one of Europe's most prolific attackers and moved up the all-time scoring list for the competition to fifth place.
Mbappe became the youngest player in Champions League history to make 100 appearances at the age of 27 years and 298 days. He broke the record set by Lionel Messi, who had been at it for 28 years and 84 days.
The Real Madrid striker has scored for three separate teams this season. He scored 24 goals for the Spanish giants since joining the club, 42 goals for PSG, and six for Monaco.
In addition to being one of the best forwards in the league, Mbappe has an impressive scoring record after 100 appearances. In his first 100 matches, Robert Lewandowski scored 81 goals, Messi 77, and Mbappe 72. Those two legendary attackers are ahead of Mbappe.
Although he has made great strides, the Frenchman still has a long way to go before he can be considered the league's leading scorer in the Champions League. At 140 goals, Cristiano Ronaldo is still far and away the competition leader. Messi is in second place with 129, and Lewandowski is in third with 109.
With 90 goals, Mbappe is 18 goals behind his former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema, who takes fourth place. In the upcoming seasons, he may be able to close that gap thanks to his current scoring form.
Ronaldo's incredible record is still the end goal for the French striker. Mbappe has 140 goals, but he needs 68 more to tie the record set by the Portuguese legend.
Despite the large gap, Mbappe's consistency indicates he has the potential to keep improving his ranking. If the Real Madrid attacker keeps up his current rate of success, breaking his idol's record could become a realistic goal. He has already established himself among the competition's elite scorers.
