According to a report by Football London on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Chelsea rejected the possibility of selling Pedro Neto during the summer transfer window despite reported interest from several Premier League rivals. The Portuguese winger was among the players linked with a potential departure, but the club’s £100 million valuation prevented any transfer from materialising.
Chelsea completed several significant departures during the summer, including Enzo Fernandez, Andrey Santos and Marc Cucurella. Fernandez reportedly joined Manchester City on deadline day for £125 million, making him the club’s most expensive departure.
Neto was also linked with Manchester City, who were believed to be considering strengthening their attacking options. However, no formal offer was submitted for the 26-year-old, despite the speculation surrounding his future at Stamford Bridge.
According to The Standard, people close to Neto wanted him to leave Chelsea before the transfer window closed. Manchester City were not the only club reportedly interested in the winger, as Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur were also monitoring his situation.
Despite the interest, Chelsea maintained a high asking price of £100 million for the Portuguese international. None of the interested clubs was willing to meet the reported valuation, leaving Neto to continue his career in west London.
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso will likely be satisfied that the winger remained at the club, particularly given his impressive performances this season. Neto has developed into an important attacking option under the manager and appears comfortable operating within the team's 3-4-2-1 formation.
His influence was evident during Chelsea’s 2-0 Premier League victory over Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium. Neto scored both goals, delivering a decisive performance that secured three valuable points for the Blues.
The winger will now aim to maintain his momentum when Chelsea face London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. His current form could prove important as Alonso seeks consistency from his attacking players throughout the campaign.
Neto’s brace against Everton increased his overall tally to four goals in all competitions this season, including three in the Premier League. He has also recorded one league assist in seven appearances.
Statistics from WhoScored further highlight his contribution. Neto averages 1.4 successful dribbles per match, ranking third among Chelsea players, while his average of 1.6 key passes per league appearance places him among the club’s five leading performers in that category.
Alongside Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers, Neto has provided Chelsea with creativity and attacking threat. His recent displays demonstrate his growing importance to Alonso’s plans and suggest that retaining him could prove a valuable decision for the club.
