Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen marked the birth of his second daughter with a goal for Galatasaray, but concerns over his fitness emerged after the club’s 4-0 victory against Konyaspor on Friday.
The Nigerian forward opened the scoring in the 12th minute, rising to connect with Gabriel Sara’s free-kick and send a powerful header into the net.
The goal came less than 24 hours after Osimhen and his partner, Stefanie Kim Ladewig, welcomed their second child, a baby girl named Liora Audrey.
Galatasaray had announced the birth on Thursday, congratulating the couple and wishing their newborn daughter a healthy and happy life.
Osimhen continued to trouble the Konyaspor defence and came close to scoring again before half-time. He also threatened with another header after the break, but the home goalkeeper denied him.
However, the striker was substituted in the 61st minute, with Deniz Gül taking his place.
There were concerns about Osimhen's condition after reports that he experienced discomfort during the first half and received treatment before continuing the match.
The concern increased when he was reportedly seen limping while greeting Galatasaray supporters after the final whistle.
Galatasaray had not released an official medical update on the striker at the time of reporting. It therefore remains unclear whether the incident will affect his availability for the club's upcoming fixtures.
The goal takes Osimhen's season tally to 10 across all competitions, according to reports, as he continues to play a key role in Galatasaray's attack.
For the Nigerian striker, it was a night of celebration on the pitch, although supporters will now be hoping the injury concern proves to be nothing serious.
