Opta Supercomputer Forecasts the Final Premier League Table

According to a report by Essential Football on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, Arsenal and Manchester City have emerged as the leading contenders for the Premier League title after the opening eight matches, while Brighton have become one of the season’s biggest surprises.

Liverpool remain within reach of the leading sides, while Chelsea are hoping to climb the standings under new manager Xabi Alonso. However, with a large part of the campaign still to come, the current league table offers only an early indication of how the title race could develop.

Opta Analyst’s Supercomputer has evaluated the remaining fixtures and simulated possible outcomes to estimate each club’s chances of winning the championship and finishing in different league positions. Its latest calculations place Arsenal at the top of the predictions, with Brighton’s impressive form and Manchester United’s struggles also attracting attention.

Arsenal have been assigned a 57.65 per cent chance of lifting the trophy, significantly higher than Manchester City’s 31.05 per cent. Both teams have collected 21 points from eight matches, recording seven victories and one defeat apiece.

City have scored 20 goals so far, with Erling Haaland responsible for nine of them, making him the league’s leading scorer. Arsenal’s strength, meanwhile, has been their defensive organisation, having conceded just five goals, fewer than any other leading contender.

Manchester City’s recent 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa ended their seven-match winning run and brought renewed attention to the battle for the title. Despite that setback, Opta’s projections continue to give Arsenal a considerable advantage over Pep Guardiola’s side.

Liverpool have been handed a 4.75 per cent chance of winning the league, while Brighton’s chances stand at 3.86 per cent. The Seagulls have accumulated 16 points and boast a goal difference of +16, highlighting their impressive performances during the opening weeks.

Chelsea’s probability of becoming champions is estimated at 0.93 per cent, with Aston Villa next on 0.80 per cent. Bournemouth, Brentford, Newcastle United and Leeds United have each been given less than a 0.3 per cent chance.

The figures suggest that clubs outside the leading contenders face a difficult task in the title race. Nevertheless, Brighton’s attacking performances and strong results have made them one of the teams to monitor as the season progresses.

Manchester United are experiencing a contrasting campaign, sitting 16th with only seven points from eight matches. They have also gone six consecutive games without a victory under Michael Carrick. Although the latest projections do not specify their expected final position, their poor results have increased the need for an improvement.

Several important fixtures are coming up, with Liverpool preparing to host Arsenal, Manchester City set to face Brighton and United travelling to Stamford Bridge to meet Chelsea. The outcomes could have a significant influence on the standings and the direction of the title race.

Opta’s forecasting system combines team-strength ratings with betting-market odds to estimate match outcomes before running thousands of simulations of the remaining fixtures. Its predictions are statistical estimates rather than definite outcomes, meaning the standings could change considerably as the campaign unfolds.

For now, Arsenal and Manchester City remain the two strongest candidates according to the model. Brighton will be looking to maintain their excellent start, while Manchester United face pressure to turn their disappointing run of results around.
