Erling Haaland Stirs Major Injury Fears for Man City Following Tight Win Against Ipswich

According to a report by GOAL on Saturday October 17, 2026, Manchester City are facing an anxious wait over Erling Haaland’s fitness after the striker reportedly suffered a foot injury during their 3-2 Premier League victory over Ipswich Town.

The Norwegian international scored twice to help City secure all three points, but his performance was overshadowed by concerns over his condition after he was seen limping heavily down the tunnel at full-time.

According to reports, Haaland sustained the injury late in the match after kicking the underside of Jack Clarke’s boot. The striker was visibly uncomfortable, waving his arms in frustration before making his way off the pitch.

The incident has raised concerns for City manager Enzo Maresca, particularly given Haaland’s importance to the team and his demanding schedule at both club and international level.

Haaland has already made numerous appearances this season, including four matches for Norway during the international break. His workload had prompted Maresca to consider giving the prolific forward time to rest even before the latest injury scare.

Speaking ahead of the Ipswich encounter, Maresca admitted that the striker could need a break, saying: “At some point we probably need to give him rest, some days off.”

Despite the concern, City had plenty to celebrate after grinding out another victory to maintain their perfect start to the Premier League campaign. Haaland’s brace took his season tally to 12 goals across all competitions, underlining his importance to the club’s attacking ambitions.

However, with a Champions League fixture against AEK Athens approaching, followed by further demanding domestic matches, Maresca will be hoping the injury is not serious.
