According to a report by footballTransfers on Monday November 2, 2026, Liverpool loanee Ronald Araújo says he is enjoying life at Anfield, but has stressed that it is too early to make a decision about his long-term future.
The Uruguay international joined Liverpool from Barcelona on a season-long loan in August.
Although he was initially brought in to provide cover across several defensive positions, Araújo has made a strong impression at right-back and quickly become a popular figure among supporters.
Liverpool are reportedly weighing up whether to activate a €55 million option to sign him permanently next summer.
However, the 27-year-old has played down suggestions that a deal is close, saying there are still many months before the situation needs to be resolved.
“I’m very happy and very grateful,” Araújo told Sky Sports. “From the moment I arrived at the club, everyone made me feel welcome.
My teammates, the coaching staff and the people who work here have all been fantastic. I’m enjoying playing football and being out on the pitch.”
When asked about the possibility of staying beyond his loan, he said the decision would come later. For now, he is concentrating on his performances and helping the team.
“There’s still a long way to go,” Araújo said. “I’m trying to enjoy each day, give everything I have, keep improving and help the club win trophies.
We have a great squad, with experienced players and young players who have enormous talent. We’ll see what happens in the future.”
Araújo’s arrival has helped address Liverpool’s need for a dependable right-back following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid. His versatility and early performances have made him a valuable option for manager Andoni Iraola.
Liverpool may also look to strengthen their defence next year, with captain Virgil van Dijk’s long-term future reportedly uncertain.
Nottingham Forest defender Murillo and Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck are said to be among the players on the club’s radar.
Liverpool could also consider activating the buy-back clause in Jarell Quansah’s contract at Bayer Leverkusen.
For now, Araújo’s focus remains on making the most of his loan spell. His future may be undecided, but his positive start has given Liverpool plenty to consider before next summer.
